Back in the day, Jimmy Caruthers was one fierce competitor on the dirt track circuit.... it was a family tradition, as his dad and brother were also USAC champions. JIMMY CARUTHERS RACING ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Midgets: 1970 USAC National Midget Series Champion Winner of 21 USAC Midget Car Features between 1967 and 1975 National Midget Auto Racing Hall Of Fame Inductee Sprints: Competing while stationed stateside with the US armed forces, he nearly won the ARDC Sprint Car Championship before being shipped overseas for a tour of duty Indy Car: Top Ten finisher 21 times between 1970 and 1975 Silver Crown Car: Winner of the 1975 Championship while suffering from cancer. He captured the title by finishing third at the Hoosier Hundred six weeks before he died.
