The 1969 season was filled with accusations of cheating on behalf of the Sunoco team and many involved the vinyl top 6 and 9 Camaros. Accusations were made that the Camaros had been left in the acid dipping solution to long. It was alleged that the vinyl tops were placed on the cars to cover up the damage. After the removal of the tops, the Sunoco Camaros, were arguably the most beautiful cars in the series.
