Mark Donohue’s Penske Camaro led the race for several laps, but unfortunately he was forced to retire from the race. Although he did not win, this was the first Trans-Am race for Donohue and Team Penske. The #36 Camaro’s potential would not be realized for several races. Even with a slow start, by the end of the 1967 season the Team Penske Camaro would begin a history of total domination.
